Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 8, 2025
The short version
ToolsNest is a collection of free browser-based utilities — SEO tools, writing aids, image processors, and PDF tools. The vast majority of them do their work entirely inside your browser. Your files never leave your device, your content is never sent to our servers, and we don't require an account of any kind.
The one exception is PrivNote: when you create a self-destructing message, the encrypted note is temporarily stored in our database so the recipient can retrieve it. The moment it is read, it is permanently deleted. We do not read or log the content of PrivNotes.
1. Who we are
ToolsNest (toolsnest.io) is an independent web tool platform. We build free utilities for marketers, developers, writers, and anyone who needs a quick browser-based tool without signing up or paying. If you have questions about this policy, reach us at privacy@toolsnest.io.
2. What data each tool touches
SEO & Writing tools (SEO Audit, Meta Tag Generator, Keyword Density, Word Counter, Character Counter, Readability Checker)
All processing happens in your browser or against a URL you provide for the SEO audit. For URL-based audits we fetch publicly accessible page metadata on your behalf — we do not store the URL, the result, or any page content after your session ends.
Image tools (Image Compressor, Image Converter)
Images are processed entirely client-side using your browser's built-in APIs. Your image files are never uploaded to our servers. Nothing leaves your device.
PDF tools (PDF Compressor, PDF Locker)
PDF processing runs in-browser via WebAssembly libraries. Your documents are not transmitted to or stored on our servers at any point.
PrivNote (self-destructing messages)
When you create a PrivNote, the message text is stored in our database solely so the intended recipient can retrieve it via the unique link. The note is deleted the moment it is first opened — or after 7 days if it is never opened. We do not read, analyze, or share the content of any PrivNote. We store only the note text and the creation timestamp.
Blog
Reading our blog articles does not require an account and we do not collect comments or form submissions on blog pages. We track page views in aggregate (via our blog's internal view counter) to understand which topics are useful — this counter stores no personally identifiable information.
3. Cookies and advertising
ToolsNest displays ads through Google AdSense. Google uses cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. These cookies are set by Google, not by us.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
Beyond AdSense, ToolsNest itself does not set tracking cookies. We do not run our own analytics pixels or sell data to advertisers.
4. Third-party services we use
- Vercel — our hosting provider. Vercel may log request metadata (IP address, user-agent, request path) for infrastructure purposes. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Neon (PostgreSQL) — our database provider, used to store blog posts and PrivNotes. Data is hosted in the US East region. See Neon's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdSense — advertising. See Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Children's privacy
ToolsNest is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our site, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.
6. Your rights
Because we don't collect personal data in the traditional sense, there is very little for us to hand over or delete on request. If you have created a PrivNote and want it deleted before it is read, contact us with the note URL and we will remove it from our database immediately. For any other privacy request or question, email privacy@toolsnest.io.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy — for example if we add a new service that collects data — we will update the date at the top of this page. We won't send you an email because we don't have your email address, so check back here if you're curious.
