What This Plagiarism Checker Does

A real-time, web-powered plagiarism detector built for writers, students, and content teams.

Real-Time Web Search

Each sentence is searched against the live web using exact-phrase matching. Results stream in as checks complete.

Source Links Included

Every flagged sentence shows the matching source URL, page title, and a snippet so you can verify the match yourself.

Live Progress Bar

Watch the check unfold in real time — a progress bar and currently-checking display keep you informed as results arrive.

Private & Secure

Your text is processed in memory only. Nothing is stored, logged, or shared after the check completes.

How the Plagiarism Check Works

Unlike traditional tools that compare against a fixed database, this checker searches the live web — so it catches recently published or updated content.

1

Sentence extraction

Your text is split into sentences. Short or boilerplate sentences (under 8 words) are skipped — only meaningful, content-rich sentences are checked to avoid false positives.

2

Smart sentence selection

Up to 7 sentences are selected for checking. The tool prioritises sentences in the 10–25 word range — the sweet spot for detecting copied phrases without overly broad matches.

3

Exact-phrase web search

Each sentence is wrapped in quotes and searched against the web. Exact-phrase matching returns only results containing the precise sequence of words — reducing false positives significantly.

4

Results streamed live

Results appear as each sentence completes — you don't wait for all checks to finish. Matched sentences show the source URL, page title, and a relevant snippet.

5

Score calculated

The plagiarism score is the percentage of checked sentences with at least one web match. A score below 15% is normal for original content — some common phrases will always find matches online.

Understanding Your Plagiarism Score

The score reflects how many of your checked sentences matched content found online.

0% – 15%Low Risk

Your content appears largely original. Some common phrases will always produce matches — this is normal and expected for any text.

15% – 35%Review Recommended

Some sentences matched online sources. Check the flagged sentences manually to determine if they need rewriting or a citation.

35%+High Similarity

A significant portion of your checked sentences matched online content. Review all flagged sentences and rewrite or cite sources as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our free plagiarism checker.

How does this plagiarism checker work?

The tool extracts key sentences from your text and searches the web for each one using exact-phrase matching. If matching content is found online, the sentence is flagged and the source URL is shown. Results stream live as each sentence is checked.

Is this plagiarism checker completely free?

Yes — 100% free, no signup, no word limit per check (up to 2,000 words per submission). Just paste your text and run.

How many words can I check at once?

Up to 2,000 words per submission. The tool selects the most representative 7 sentences from your text and checks each one against web search results.

Is my text stored or shared?

No. Your text is sent to the server only to perform web searches, processed in memory, and immediately discarded. It is never stored, logged, or shared.

What does the plagiarism score mean?

The score is the percentage of checked sentences that matched content found online. 0–15% is low risk. 15–35% warrants review. Above 35% means significant matched content that should be rewritten or cited.

Can I use this for academic work?

This tool checks against publicly indexed web pages. It's a solid first-pass check. University systems like Turnitin also compare against private academic databases — use this as a supplement, not a replacement.
